Context: This guide covers the File Mapper function within Employer Online, and how to map non-SAFF file formats.
If your contribution file isn’t already in SAFF format, you can use the File Mapper to align your CSV file with the SuperStream standard. The process is quick and mostly automated — you just need to confirm a few details and match any fields that aren’t auto-matched.
1. Go to Contribution Upload
- Click the Contributions menu.
- Click the New Contribution button.
- Click the File Upload tile.
- Click the Accepted File Formats button.
- Click the File Mapper hyperlink.
- Click the Map File button.
2. Upload Your File
Drag and drop your CSV file into the upload space, or click the Browse button to select it from your computer.

Complete the following fields:
Does your file have headers? (Yes/No)
What row are the headers in? (enter row number)
What row does the data start in? (enter row number)
Date format in your file (choose from dropdown)
Click the Next Button
3. Map Your Fields
- The File Mapper will automatically match your file’s column headings to the standard SuperStream fields where possible.
Review the list and manually map any fields that aren’t already matched.
Once all required fields are mapped, click the Next button.
To map a field, select any row item that has -- Not Mapped -- as the value.

This will open a side panel with the SAFF fields to select from
Note: By checking 'Show mandatory fields only', the side panel will update with the fields that must be mapped and included. -
Once all required fields are mapped, click Next.
4. Review Your File
A preview of your mapped contribution file will appear in a grid.
Check that the data looks correct.
If you need to adjust anything, click the Back button to return to mapping.
If everything looks right, click the Done button.
5. Start Your Contribution
After finishing the mapping, you’ll see a File Mapping Complete screen.
Click the Start Contribution button too begin creating your new contribution using the mapped file.
To use your mapped file, select File upload and upload the file format that you have mapped.
6. Updating your mapping
Click the Settings menu.
Click the Contribution Settings button
Click the View button.
