Note: We’ve updated our MFA criteria to help strengthen your account security. Please see our Password and MFA Requirements article for more information. We recommend and support Google Authenticator as the MFA app of choice.
What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security feature included in your user login for Employer Online. It adds an extra layer of protection to your account.
Step 2B - Manually add the setup key
Step 1 - Set up MFA
Note: MFA can be set up via the onboarding, account creation, or MFA reset flows. You can set up MFA using both an authentication app (such as Google Authenticator) and your mobile number, or just your mobile number alone.
Important: We’ve updated our MFA requirements to strengthen your account security. Please note that not all Authentication apps are compatible. We recommend and support Google Authenticator. For more details, please see our Password and MFA Requirements article.
- Click the Use Authenticator button.
After clicking the Use Authentication App button, you will be presented with the screen below. You will need to open your authentication app (or install one from your App Store).

To set up your authentication app, you can either scan the QR code (Option A) or manually enter the setup key to add the code to your app (Option B).
Step 2A - Scan the QR code
- Open your Authenticator App
- Scan the QR code.
- Once the barcode is correctly scanned, you will see the newly added MFA code in your Authentication app
Step 2B - Manually add the setup key
Help: We recommend scanning the QR code. If you're having trouble when copying the key, please try scanning the QR code to resolve any issues.

Open the Authenticator app and click the Enter a Setup Key button.

Complete the following fields:
Account name.
Your key.
Time of key.

Click the Add button.
Note: Your code will display within the red box, highlighted below.
You will then see the new MFA code in your authentication app.
After successfully adding to your authentication app, go back to your screen and click the Continue button to finalise the MFA setup.
Step 3 - Continuing MFA Setup

After clicking the Continue button, you will be prompted to enter the code shown in your authentication app. Check your app and enter the code.
Note: This code changes constantly and is time-sensitive, as indicated by the timer to the right of the code in your MFA app. Be sure to enter the code that's currently displayed in your authentication app

Congratulations, you have now set up MFA by Authentication app. Next, you need to verify your phone number to make it even safer. Click the Verify Mobile Number button.
Important: Ensure you use a phone number that you have constant access to, and not another person. It's important that it's your own mobile number.
Enter your mobile phone number and click the Send Code button.

You will receive a code on your mobile, similar to the one below.
Note: If you do not enter the code within 5 minutes, you will need to request a new code and use the one sent to you.
Enter the code into the space provided and click the Verify button.
Congratulations! You have successfully completed setting up your MFA with both an authenticator app and a phone number. By doing this, you’ve enhanced your account security, safeguarding your account and information.
